Some Tips on Stretching Earlobes

Stretching earlobes is becoming increasingly more popular as normal body piercings and cartilage piercings are becoming commonplace. Simply insert the pin and you are set until it has healed.

The first option is best because the jewelry pin is the same diameter all the way, while tapered jewelry is thicker at one end and thinner at the other, so your hole may heal at different widths front to back.

However, this is not about the mechanics, but about how to care for your earlobes and for yourself, so here are some important tips on stretching earlobes:

1. Do not start until your piercing has healed, including any previous earlobe stretching carried out. Otherwise it will be too painful and can become infected.

How to Reduce Hospital Readmissions Through Patient Participation

When you look at the new health care law, it requires hospitals to reduce their readmissions of discharged patients. According to an article in the October, 2011, American Medical News, “Hospitals make almost no headway in cutting readmissions.” Researchers affiliated with Dartmouth Institute’s Atlas of Health Care examined the records of all 10.7 million Medicare patient hospital discharges from July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2009, and found little progress. They concluded, “Irrespective of the cause, unnecessary hospital readmissions lead to more tests and treatments, more time away from home and family, and higher health care costs.” Along with its report, Dartmouth released a tip sheet for patients when leaving the hospital. The guide advises patients to ask for post-discharge planning help while still in the hospital and write a plan that captures elements such as expected discharge date, scheduled follow-up appointments, medication list, needed medical equipment and how to respond to anticipated symptoms.

Too often, when we look at empowering patient participation, we look at what the patient has to do to stay out of the hospital. I believe, we need to focus on how a patient actively participates. We do this by teaching practical life skills, like developing a positive self-image, self-trust and a way of consciously connecting to inner resources. When a person has a positive self-image, they feel more worthy of healing. A person with a negative self-image, too often has sub-conscious sabotaging programs that limit the healing process. Every time we think, our thoughts are directed to our self-image. If we have a positive self-image, we get positive responses. A negative self-image, too often gives limiting responses.

In the Journal of the American Medical Association, it stated that the attitude a patient walks into the doctor’s office with determines receptivity of the doctor’s treatment. A positive self-image has the ability to better receive the doctor’s treatments. Another important life skill that needs to be developed to reduce recidivism is self-trust. If a patient trusts themselves, they will be more able to tap inner resources to be an active partner with their doctor. Without self-trust, a patient will naturally look outside to solve their problems. In the case of poor health, the hospital would be a normal place to go. When a patient trusts themselves, their experience sends them a clear and powerful message. When they share that with the doctor, that partnership becomes more effective.

This eliminates one-way communication from doctor to patient. The optimal communication between doctor and patient is where the patient can accurately articulate their problem and the doctor responds with his medical knowledge. In a conscious partnership, if the patient does not agree or has questions, they are more likely to confidently speak up.

A third important life skill is conscious breathing. We become more aware of what our breath breathes into; it is like our breath gives life to what we breathe into. If we breathe into anxious thoughts, we will give life to a limiting part of us. If we could breathe into the silence beyond our thoughts, we could give life to what I call ‘The Wisdom of the Body.’ This is where inner resources are found to make the patient’s role more powerful. When the patient’s inner resources partner with the doctor’s treatments, there are better healing results.

Movie News – The Inbetweeners Set To Hit The Big Screen

Look out world; they’re moving up from our small screens to the largest format of all. That’s right, the openly audacious British TV series The Inbetweeners (Channel 4) is set to hit a cinema near you in mid November. After three highly successful series on UK Television the cast and crew have moved on to the Spanish beach side resort town of Magaluf on the island of Majorca.

Telling the story of four unlikely school mates, posh Will (Simon Bird), ever unlucky Simon (Joe Thomas), the world’s biggest bragger Jay (James Buckley) and the dim-witted Neil (Blake Harrison) who head off to the Greek Islands for post school party time. As the title suggests the four lads struggled to fit into any social niche at school and ended up in a virtual no-man’s land between the cool kids and the nerds.

Originally launched in 2008 the show depicts the rites of passage of the four teens as they struggle with the mundane daily complexities of school life. Often crass and shocking its humor is centered on the shock value which despite its crudities is often hilariously funny. Look beyond the filth and fun and it’s easy to find some of the most perfectly written story lines of teen camaraderie. In only three short seasons of 6 episodes each the show has a massive fan base with over one million DVD’s sold and more than 3 million Facebook fans.

For the uninitiated these are the main ingredients of the show so that you are at least partially up to speed if you find yourself sitting in a cinema taking in The Inbetweeners for the first time:

1. Neil’s Dad is definitely gay.

3. Jay is the worlds biggest truth twister to put it mildly.

4. Simon is still stuck on his very first love Carli (Emily Head).

There is also a variable array of schoolyard slang that the viewer must decipher in order to follow the show such as Bumder, Briefcase Mong, Clunge, and Fwend. All reports suggest the movie will see the end of the story though suggestions have been discussed that there is the possibility of one-off specials to come in the future. It also means lengthy medical care, treatment and therapy regimens before these workers are able to return to work even under limited conditions. Understanding what they are and how to avoid them, can help keep you from becoming another statistic.

Understanding the Recognized Hazards

OSHA has also outlined several hazardous conditions in the workplace that regularly occur and may result in workers sustaining musculoskeletal conditions or disorders because of them. All of these hazards have been proven to result in injuries requiring both medical treatment beyond the limitations of regular first aid, and the restriction of future work availability upon the part of the injured worker. Avoiding or eliminating these hazards could save companies, insurance companies, the government and the workers themselves, millions of dollars each year and educating the public is just one way to get that process started.

Shin Splints: Regardless of the name, the condition known as shin splints actually refers more to the pain felt, rather than the area it affects. Pain is chronically felt primarily over the front of the tibia bone, and can be caused by damage to the bone itself, the muscles surrounding it or the ligaments that attach the muscles to it. It is usually caused through overuse, creating irritation within the soft tissues first. Runners especially suffer from this condition, as do workers who walk heavily throughout their day.

Bursitis: A bursa is the name given the small fluid filled sacs that surround joints, and ease friction and movement of those joints. When these sacs become inflamed by injury, they swell, causing the condition known as bursitis. Symptoms of this condition include pain, tenderness and swelling around the infected joint, loss of motion in that joint or a limitation in movement. It most often affects the shoulder, knee, hip, heel, thumb and elbow and is generally caused by repetitive motion, and rarely by accident.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: The Carpal Tunnel is a hollow tunnel within the wrist that is made up of the transverse ligament and the eight carpal bones on the back of the wrist. Running through this tunnel are the media nerve, flexor tendons, arteries and lymphatic vessels, and if anything shifts inside the tunnel due to repetitive motion or injury, pressure can be created on any one of the nerves or other tender soft tissues that run through the carpal tunnel. When this occurs, there is chronic pain, swelling, numbness, and generally affects only the thumb and the first two fingers. Pain flares during the night, and a weakening grip of the hand are two telling signs of this condition.

Tendonitis: Among the musculoskeletal conditions, this is the one condition that can be experienced anywhere in the body. Tendonitis is the name given to irritation and inflammation of the major tendons connecting joints to muscles throughout. It is characterized by swelling, pain, tenderness around the joint, and stiffness or loss of motion. The pain will weaken or worsen depending on how often that joint is used, and is often caused by repetitive motion.

When an accident occurs, the driver plays an important role in making sure the auto body shop and the insurance company are on the same page. Regardless of who is at fault, there are steps that can be taken to reduce out-of-pocket expenses and inconveniences.

Exchange Information with the Other Driver

Insurance companies need as many details as possible before paying an auto body shop for your accident repairs. If there are no injuries and everyone is safe, both drivers should exchange names and numbers. It is a good idea to jot down the name of the other driver’s insurance company, as well as the policy number if possible. That is just what luxury car makers promise with this new feature as more and more luxury automakers feel the need to differentiate themselves. Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes have reported that they will begin implementing larger seat sizes to accommodate for customers with a larger stature and body frame.
